The CBS Integrated Broadcast System (IBS) represents one of the largest development
efforts in the industry. One of the main objectives for this development
project was to lower the cost of applications and at the same time deliver
better functionality in commercial scheduling, strategic information access,
and operating flexibility. IBS is composed of more than 200 windows, complex server-side
processing, and a large Oracle database. IBS provides mainframe class
performance to 500 concurrent users within the Cable and Television Business units.
The IBS development team, composed of experts from CBS, Black Rock Media, and
Dynasty, completed the project on time in early 2001. Using the component‑based
development approach supported by the Dynasty Development Environment, CBS
provides core IBS services that include Client & Agency
Management, Traffic & Scheduling, Inventory Management, and Order
Management. IBS is critical to CBS’ business and competitive advantage.
Dynasty provides broad support for platforms, databases, communications, and user
interface. This ensures ongoing flexibility and the capability for quick
redeployment of the IBS system as the business needs and technology evolve.
